Derby and I moved to San Diego in 2016 and what a change it was! We moved from land locked Atlanta and suddenly we were living at the beach. Derby and I even began sporting the same sunglasses and we both got matching blue mohawks!
Life was good - in fact it was “all good, all the time” which became a motto we live by.
There was something missing though. For anyone living here in Southern California you know that when the sun goes down we all - people and dogs alike- can use a good hoodie! Finding a hoodie for me was pretty easy, but getting one for Derby was difficult with only limited choices.
Inspiration for the Derby California brand started one night at our local Ocean Beach Farmers market. We met a guy who runs his own small business and he specializes in tie dye. Now, this isn’t the tie dye you think of from summer camp. His patterns have a way of marbling color to create sophisticated patterns and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. I commissioned a dog hoodie and everyone loved it.
Now, 4 years later and after making sure to come up with colors and styles that are “all good, all the time,” our Derby California Brand Tie Dye hoodies have become a reality.
Now your pup can have an original handmade tie dyed Derby California hoodie!
We’ve got 5 unique and distinct color styles and we’ve got sizes ranging from XS for your little lap dogs all the way up to 7XL for your really big four-legged pals.
You can get a matching hoodie for yourself so you can show everyone that you and your pup are the two best friends that anyone can have.
Derby and I love surfing and we started participating in dog surfing competitions, We’ve made lots of great two-legged and four-legged friends and it’s been a great way that we can give back to our community. We’ve been fortunate enough to meet and work with the amazing humans behind the Helen Woodward Animal Center - a non-profit organization that provides education and therapeutic programs for people and humane care and adoption for homeless animals. Help us help them - For every hoodie that we sell $1 will go to the Helen Woodward Animal Center! You can check them out at animalcenter.org
